1. State of India’s Environment Report 2022:

  • 9th edition of Down To Earth’s Annual report.
  • Released by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
  • India Slips 3 spots to Rank 120 from 117 in 2021 on the 17 SDG goals 2030 Agenda.
  • Among the States, Kerala (1st), followed by Tamilnadu and Himachal Pradesh in the 2nd position.
  • 3rd position – Goa, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

  • Asia continues to be ahead of other regions of the world.

3. Telangana tops the country in terms of Per Capita Net State Domestic Product at Current Prices. It succeeded other states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamilnadu.

4. World Hearing Day:

  • Theme 2022: To hear for life, listen with care.

5. World Wildlife Day:

  • Observed on 3rd March
  • Theme 2022: Recovering key species for ecosystem restoration.

6. Global Treaty on Plastic Trash:

  • The United Nations has agreed to start negotiating a world-first global treaty on Plastic pollution.
  • UN Environment Assembly in Nairobi unanimously agreed to create an intergovernmental committee to negotiate and finalize a legally binding plastics treaty by 2024.
  • Less than 10 percent of plastic is recycled and most wind up in landfills or oceans.

8. GOES-T Satellite:

  • Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite.
  • Launched by NASA
  • To forecast weather and hazardous environmental conditions in the Western Hemisphere.

  • In recognition of the significant work done for Ganga rejuvenation.
