7. New Chairman to PMLA:

  • Vinodanand Jha has been appointed as the chairman of the prevention of money laundering act adjudicating authority.
  • PMLA was enacted in 2002.
  • It is a 3 member body.

8. International Cricket Council awards 2021:

  • ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year – Smriti Mandana (India)
  • ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year – Shaheen Afridi ( Pakistan)

9. CSIR-Central drug research institute develops an Omicron testing kit named “OM”.

10. PASCHIM LEHAR (XPL-2022):

  • The joint maritime exercise was conducted by the Western Naval Command of India.
  • To enhance the Interservice synergy among the Indian Navy, Indian Army and Coast Guard.

11. India’s 1st Graphene Innovation Centre:

  • To be established at Thrissur, Kerala.

About Graphene:

  • Allotrope of carbon.
  • The thinnest and Strongest material in the world.
  • Consists of a single layer of atoms arranged in a two-dimensional honeycomb lattice nanostructure.
  • Good chemical stability, high electrical conductivity and lightweight.
  • It has the potential to replace Indium and it will lower the cost of OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) screens in smartphones.

12. Corruptions Perceptions Index 2021:

  • Released by Transparency International.
  • India ranked 85 out of 180 countries
  • 1st rank: Denmark, Finland and New Zealand
  • Followed by Norway in the 4th rank.

13. Cucumber and Gherkins:

  • India becomes the World’s largest exporter of Cucumber and Gherkins.
  • Gherkin is also known as a Pickled cucumber.

14. World’s Fastest AI Supercomputer:

  • Facebook Parent ‘Meta” has developed an Artificial Intelligence(AI) supercomputer i.e Research Supercluster(RSC).

 15. Film ‘Jai Bhim’ and ‘Marakkar’ nominated for Oscars 2022:

  • Jai Bhim – Directed by TJ Gnanavel.
  • A brave activist lawyer fights for justice when a poor tribal man, who gets falsely accused of robbery, goes missing from the police custody.
  • Marakkar – Directed by Priyadarshan
  • Kunjali Marakkar IV becomes a legendary navel chief while waging an epic war against the Portuguese on behalf of the Kingdom of Cochin.

16. India’s first woman Rafale fighter jet pilot part of IAF tableau:

  • Shivangi Singh was part of the Indian Air Force tableau at the Republic Day Parade 2022.
  • She is the only 2nd woman fighter jet pilot to be part of the IAF tableau.
  • In 2021, Flight Lieutenant Bhawna Kanth became the first female fighter jet pilot to be part of the IAF tableau.

17. Former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and the famous singing legend Sandhya Mukherjee refuse their Padma award.

18. 4th Tiger Reserve of Rajasthan:

  • Ramgarh Wildlife sanctuary is set to be notified as to the 4th tiger reserve of Rajasthan.

19. International Customs Day:

  • Observed on January 26th every year.
  • Theme 2022: Scaling up Customs Digital Transformation by Embracing a Data Culture and Building a Data Ecosystem.
