1. 49th CJI:

Justice Uday Umesh Lalit has been appointed the 49th Chief Justice of India.
He was the 2nd CJI directly elevated to the apex court bench from the bar.
In 1971 – Justice SM Sikri was the 1st lawyer to be elevated directly to the top court.

2. SSI MANTRA:

Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute in New Delhi gets 1st ever ‘Made in India’ Surgical Robotic System.
It is aimed at providing the best oncological care.

3. 44th Chess Olympiad Winners:

4. Digital Currency:

According to the UN, the use of cryptocurrency rose globally at an unprecedented rate during the Covid 19 Pandemic
3% of the Indian population owned digital currency in 2021 ranking 7th in the list of 20 global economies for digital currency ownership.
Ukraine topped the list with 12.7%

5. World Elephant Day:

Observed on 12th August.
Observed since 2012
To create awareness of elephant conservation and to share knowledge and positive solutions for the better protection and management of wild and captive elephants.
More than 60% of wild Asian elephants are in India.
India has 31 elephant reserves.

Observed on 12th August
Theme 2022 – “Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a world for all ages”

7. Udara Shakti:

Bilateral Air force between India and Malaysia.
Hosted by Malaysia.
The four days of exercise will witness the conduct of various aerial combat drills between the two Air Forces.

8. Center of Excellence for Vegetables:

Laid the foundation stone of the Indo–Israel Center of Excellence for Vegetables in Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh.
Israeli experts are providing the centre’s technology as part of the India – Israel Action Plan.
The mission of Integrated Development of Horticulture is to fund the construction of the Center’s infrastructure for demonstration purposes.

9. Thagaisai Thamizhar Award:

Given to Veteran Communist Leader R Nallakannu.
Given by the government of Tamil Nadu
CPM leader N Sankaraiah was the first recipient of this award.
