1. Global Hunger Index 2022:
- India’s rank – is 107 out of 121 countries.
- India’s score of 29.1 places it in the ‘serious’ category. India also ranks below Sri Lanka (64), Nepal (81), Bangladesh (84), and Pakistan (99). Afghanistan (109) is the only country in South Asia that performs worse than India on the index.
- GHI scores are based on the values of four component indicators – Undernourishment, Stunting, Child wasting, and Child mortality.
2. World Students’ Day:
- Observed on 15th October.
- To commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
3. International Day of Rural Women:
- Observed on 15th October.
- Theme 2022 – “Rural Women Cultivating Good Food for All”.
- The day highlights the essential role that rural women and girls play in the world’s food systems.
4. World Green City Award 2022:
- Won by HYDERABAD
- It also won the ‘Living Green for Economic Recovery and Inclusive Growth’ award.
5. South Asian Geoscience Conference – Jaipur:
- 5th South Asian Geoscience Conference (GEO India 2022) in JAIPUR, RAJASTHAN.
- It will be attended by over 100 experts from across India & other countries including the US, Norway & the European Central.
- Delegates will share the latest research on improved production of natural gas & oil.
6. Goa to host 9th World Ayurveda Congress & Arogya Expo:
- Goa will host the 9th World Ayurveda Congress & Arogya Expo from December 8-11, 2022.
- ‘Ayurveda for One Health’ is the focal theme of the event.
- It will be organized by the World Ayurveda Foundation, an initiative by Vijnana Bharati.
7. East Asia Summit Education Minister’s Meeting – Vietnam:
- India participated in the 6th East Asia Summit Education Minister’s Meeting held in Hanoi, Vietnam.
- India informed about NEP – 2020 and how it is based on foundational pillars of access, equality, quality, affordability and accountability.
8. ISSF World Shooting Championships 2022 in Cairo, Egypt:
- RUDRANKKSH BALASAHEB PATIL won a gold medal in the World Championship and ensured his Paris 2024 Olympic quota.
- Rudrankksh is the second Indian to win a gold medal in the World Shooting Championship after Abhinav Bindra who had won gold in 2006.
