1. Mission Schools of Excellence – launched in Gujarat:
- It is partially supported by the World Bank.
- It was designed to improve the state’s educational infrastructure by constructing new classrooms, smart classrooms, computer labs, and other improvements.
2. India, and France Re-Elected as President and Co-President of International Solar Alliance:
- The ISA is an initiative that was launched by the Prime Minister of India and the President of France on 30 November 2015 in Paris, France on the sidelines of the COP-21.
- The overarching objective of the ISA is to collectively address key common challenges to the scaling up of solar energy in ISA member countries.
3. Durgavati Tiger Reserve – Madhya Pradesh:
- Madhya Pradesh Wildlife Board has approved the making of a new tiger reserve of Panna Tiger Reserve (PTR), one-fourth of which will get submerged due to the Linkin of the Ken-Betwa rivers.
- The new tiger reserve will be known as Durgavati Tiger Reserve and it will spread across Narsinghpur, Damoh, and Sagar districts.
- A green corridor linking PTR with Durgavati will be developed for the natural movement of the tiger to the new reserve.
4. National Intellectual Property Award – IIT Madras:
- This annual award recognises individuals & institutions for their IP creations that contribute to strengthening the country’s IP ecosystem & encourage creativity & innovation.
- It is given out by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt of India.
5. SARANG – Indian Festival Celebrated in the Republic of Korea:
- The Festival of India in the Republic of Korea enthralled South Korean art and music lovers with a fusion of Indian and Korean dance and music in a grand spectacle.
- Through this festival, the rich cultural diversity of India is showcased through various art forms including dance, drama, music, films and cuisine to the people of Korea to promote understanding and friendship among the peoples of the two countries.
6. UNHRC’s Special Rapporteur – K P Ashwini:
- United Nations Human Rights Council has appointed Dr K P Ashwini, as its Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance.
- She became the first Indian and Asian to be appointed as UNHRC’s special rapporteur.
7. Dr Sankarasubramanian – Principal Scientist of Aditya L-1 Mission:
- Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has named Dr Sankarasubramanian as the Principal Scientist of the Aditya L-1 Mission.
- Aditya L-1 Mission is the first observatory class space-based solar mission from India which is set to be launched in 2023.
- The designed life cycle of the mission is 5 years.
- The spacecraft will be placed in a halo orbit around the first Lagrange Point, L1 of the Sun-Earth system which is about 1.5 million kilometres from the Earth.
8. PMAY-U Awards 2021:
- Uttar Pradesh – 1st
- Madhya Pradesh – 2nd
- Tamil Nadu – 3rd
- Gujarat got five special category awards for performance related to affordable rental housing complexes and convergence with other missions.
About PMAY–U:
- Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U), a flagship Mission of the Government of India being implemented by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), was launched on 25th June 2015.
- The scheme is aimed at confronting and tiding over the shortage of housing facilities in urban India for beneficiaries under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Low-Income Groups (LIGs) and Middle Income Groups (MIGs) categories.
