1. Pakistan Removed from FATF Grey List:

  • Pakistan has been removed from the grey list of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the Paris-based global watchdog on money laundering and terrorist financing.
  • Pakistan was placed on the grey list in 2018 for failing to keep a check on money laundering and terrorist financing.
  • Besides Pakistan, Nicaragua was removed from the FATF’s ‘grey list’ while the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania and Mozambique were added to the list. Myanmar was added to the FATF’s ‘black list’.
  • In a statement, the FATF said Pakistan made significant progress in checking money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism.

2. Exercise Tiger Triumph:

  • Conducted by the Indian and US military.
  • Held at Visakhapatnam
  • It is a three-day joint humanitarian assistance exercise in line with the growing strategic cooperation between the two countries.

3. 14th edition of World Spice Congress:

  • To be held in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
  • This edition is going to be all about and only about ‘SPICES,’ after announcing the subject. Vision 2030: SPICES (Sustainability- Productivity- Innovation- Collaboration- Excellence and Safety) has been selected as the subject for the current World Spice Congress (WSC).

4. Most Popular GI Award – Hyderabadi Haleem:

  • Telangana’s Hyderabadi Haleem has won the ‘Most Popular GI’ award after beating other food items including Rasgulla, Bikaneri Bhujia, and Ratlami Sev.

5. Trees beyond Forests programme launched in Assam:

  • The Assam govt and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) in Oct 2022 launched the “Trees Outside Forests in India (TOFI)”
  • It aims to bring farmers, companies, and private institutions together to expand tree coverage outside of traditional forests in the State.

6. Migration Monitoring System – Mumbai:

  • India’s first ‘Migration Monitoring System’, which provides updated information on migrant pregnant women, lactating mothers and children instantly on a single system, was inaugurated in Mumbai.
  • It has been developed by the Department of Women and Child Development, Govt of Maharashtra.
  • This will make it easier for the beneficiaries to get the benefits of the government schemes.

7. New Species of Pygmy Grasshopper named ‘Dravida Chris Annamalice’:

  • Researchers discovered a new species ‘Dravida Chris Annamalice’ of Pygmy Grasshopper, also known as grouse locust in Tamil Nadu.
  • It is named after the Dravidian landscape as a tribute to the Dravidian language group.
