6. IndiGo becomes the first airline to use indigenous navigation system GAGAN:

  • India becomes the third country in the world to have its own space-based augmentation system after the USA and Japan.

About GAGAN:

  • GPS Aided Geo Augmented Navigation
  • Jointly developed by ISRO and AAI
  • System of satellites and ground stations that provide GPS signal corrections, giving you better position accuracy.
  • Launched – 2001

  • Founded – 2006;
