1. Indore Gets India’s Cleanest City Tag for 6th Time in a Row:
- Indore bagged the title of India’s cleanest city for the sixth time in a row as the results of the Central government’s annual cleanliness survey ‘Swachh Survekshan Awards 2022’ were announced.
- Best performing states – Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra.
- Surat is the second cleanest city.
- TAMIL NADU – 3rd Prize in the big states category.
- TAMIL NADU – 1st Prize in the Functionality Assessment under the less than 60% coverage category.
2. Nobel Prize for Medicine 2022 – Svante Paabo:
- Svante Paabo was given the award for his discoveries concerning the genomes of extinct hominins and human evolution.
3. National Wildlife Week:
- Observed from 2nd to 8th October
- The main objective of this campaign is to promote the conservation and protection of animal life. It teaches people about animal life and encourages them to save a large number of animals by not killing them for their own food or for other purposes.
4. World Habitat Day:
- Observed on the First Monday of October every year.
- This year the day is observed on 3rd October
- Theme 2022 – “Mind the Gap. Leave No One and Place Behind”
5. “Optimus” robot:
- Unveiled by Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla
- The humanoid “Optimus” robot, uses some of the same Artificial Intelligence (AI) software and sensors as the Autopilot driving assistance system in Tesla vehicles.
6. Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2020:
- Awarded to ‘Asha Parekh’
- During the 68th National Film Awards for the Year 2020 ceremony in Delhi.
- The award honours artists who have made outstanding contributions to the growth and development of Indian cinema.

7. 6th edition of PFC Valley of Words Book Awards 2022:
- The award was won by the book – “Tagore & Gandhi: Walking Alone, Walking Together”
- Authored by RUDRANGSHU MUKHERJEE
8. YUVA 2.O:
- PM’s Scheme for Mentoring Young Authors – YUVA 2.0 was launched on 2 Oct 2022 to promote reading, writing & book culture in the country.
- Under YUVA 2.0 (Young, Upcoming & Versatile Authors), a total of 75 authors will be selected through an All India Contest, who can write on a spectrum of subjects to promote Indian heritage, culture & knowledge system.
- YUVA 1st edition was launched in 2021
9. International Day of Non-Violence:
- Observed on 2nd October, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi.
- Mahatma Gandhi, one of the tallest leaders of the Indian independence movement, was the pioneer of the philosophy of non-violence.
- This day was established on 15 June 2007 by the United Nations.
