1. Nobel Prize 2022 winner for Physics:
- ALAIN ASPECT, JOHN F. CLAUSER and ANTON ZEILINGER have jointly won the prize.
- They have won it “for experiments with entangled photons, establishing the violation of Bell inequalities and pioneering quantum information science”.
- In 2021, the award was given to Giorgio Parisi, Klaus Hasselmann and Syukuro Manabe.
2. First fully digital literate panchayat – Pullampara, Kerala:
- The mission to achieve total digital literacy was aimed at empowering the residents to get access to over 800 government services available through online mode.
- The residents were also trained to use social media platforms and basic banking services during the training.
3. National Games 2022 – Antim Panghal wins gold medal:
- Antim Panghal, the World under-20 champion, made an impressive debut at the National Games 2022 as she won the gold medal in women’s 53kg wrestling.
- Haryana’s Antim Panghal, who made history in August by becoming the first Indian to become U20 world champion in women’s wrestling, beat Priyanshi Prajapati of Madhya Pradesh by fall in the final.
4. World Space Week:
- Observed from 4th – 10th October.
- Theme 2022 – “Space and Sustainability”
- To celebrate science and technology, and their contribution towards the betterment of the human condition.
- World Space Week aims to help people gain a wider knowledge about space outreach and education.
5. Lifetime Achievement Award – Vivek Lall:
- Vivek Lall, an Indian-origin General Atomic Global Corporation Chief Executive is honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award by US President Joe Biden with the citation of ‘With Grateful Recognition’.
6. Sujilam 1.0 & 2.0 Awardee:
- Sujilam 1.0 Awardee State– Madhya Pradesh
- Sujilam 2.0 Awardee State – Karnataka
- Sujilam was a 100-day campaign to regulate the discharge of wastewater into the village pond and manage grey water through soak pits, leach pits and magic pits.
- 1st Har Ghar Jal Certified district in India — Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh.
7. PM launches 5G NSA Core by C-DOT:
- PM launched the 5G Non-Standalone Core which was indigenously designed and developed by the Centre for Development of Telematics.
- The 5G technology provides seamless coverage, high data rate, low latency, and highly reliable communications and will also increase energy efficiency, spectrum efficiency and network efficiency.
- This is expected to deliver 10 times better download speed than that of 4G and up to 3 times greater spectrum efficiency.
- BHARTI AIRTEL – 1st company to launch 5G services in India at Delhi, Mumbai, Varanasi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Nagpur and Siliguri.
